A new motherboard, new case, new (well swapped) power supply and a new hard drive. I’m back in business. I hesitate to make too much noise just yet. I haven’t even put the case back on it yet. However, for the time being everything seems to be running smoothly. The new 250 GB SATA hard drive gives me a ton of room, and I even left off 50 gig for a new install of Vista.
I truly hope my last issue was the hard drive, because that would mean I have a good motherboard downstairs. If that is the case, I may assemble another PC and try to sell it to recoup some of the cost. We shall see…
Thanks to my good friend Cole, I am now up and running again with my home PC. I’ve had access to a computer for the last week (at work, naturally). Let this be a lesson to you all, never trust a flash of the BIOS in Windows! Lesson number 2 would be that it is incredibly difficult to flash your BIOS with a floppy disk when your floppy disk controller is bad.
Thankfully Cole had a USB floppy drive he let me borrow, and I’ve been running relatively error free since Saturday morning. It is good to have Big Blue back in business. I was getting very worried that I would need to buy a new motherboard. I love this PC, and when it works it is a monster. The thought of abandoning perfectly good hardware was difficult for me to swallow. I’m glad I now don’t have to worry about it.
I hope y’all are having a great weekend!
A HUGE shout out to my good bud Tom Crampton. He is THE MAN in all things Initech Game Night, and b2evolution (and this only begins to scratch the surface of his expertise).
After conversing with him for a few minutes this evening, I now have my first picture posts. I’m seriously considering delving into the creation of my own b2evolution theme over the next few weeks. I just can’t find a preexisting skin that is tropical enough for me.
Enjoy the pictures, sorry they are so big. I need to be aware of the size and try to posts thumbnails in the future. More coming in a moment.
